Costume
Costume is an you important part of any production, because it can bring 'life' to the whole vision that the director can portray. It can also create conflicting elements and styles, for example you could have an 'absurdist' set design, with very naturalistic costumes. The justification for this could then be that you would want to show through the costumes that Woyzeck is a normal man, but the set then displays his inner turmoil; what he is facing is all around him.
Below is a blog I found where an Canadian artist created some costume designs for the characters within Woyzeck; they are a great inspiration!

Again, here is another blog where a student has created costume designs for Woyzeck.

What do you think about these costume designs? Do you think they are true to the original designs of the play?
Have a read of 'The Costumer's Manifesto' and their 'statements' of the purpose of costumes within a production. I think they're helpful to realise how important costumes are and how they contribute to the overall production and vision.
